Did you know the Chaengwattana Community Church started as a small gathering? It began on Easter Sunday in 1992. This wasn’t just any church. It was a daughter church of the Evangelical Church of Bangkok. Imagine a small group of believers. They felt a need. They wanted a church closer to their new community in the northern suburbs. The International School of Bangkok had just moved north. Many expatriates needed a church. This new church was about 25 kilometers from its parent church. That’s a long way to travel in Bangkok traffic.
The Chaengwattana Community Church first met on the ISB school campus. Later they moved to a hotel conference room. It wasn’t ideal. Eventually they found a more permanent home in Nichada Thani. The church’s name changed too. They were now the Chaengwattana Community Church. They also gained independence from the Christian and Missionary Alliance. In July 1998 the church became its own entity. It’s recognized by the Evangelical Fellowship of Thailand.
Today Chaengwattana Community Church serves a multinational community. People from over 12 countries attend services. The first pastor David Seckinger had a special connection. His wife was the daughter of the Evangelical Church of Bangkok’s founder. It was a unique connection between these two churches. The church continues to thrive. It is a place of worship. It’s a testament to the growth of Christianity in Bangkok’s northern suburbs. It’s also a wonderful example of how a small group of believers can make a big difference. The Chaengwattana Community Church is much more than just a building. It is a vibrant community. It represents faith hope and love in the heart of Bangkok. It’s a place where people from different backgrounds come together. They share their faith and build lasting relationships.
