Santo Adrião de Vizela is a Portuguese parish. It belongs to the municipality of Vizela. The parish covers 3.01 square kilometers. In 2021, it had a population of 2,264. That makes the population density 752.2 inhabitants per square kilometer.
Interestingly, Santo Adrião de Vizela was once part of Felgueiras. This changed when Vizela was created in 1998. It was the only parish to move from Felgueiras to Vizela.
Let’s talk about a significant addition to Santo Adrião de Vizela. In November 2021, the Ponte da Aliança was inaugurated. This bridge connects Santo Adrião and Tagilde. It solved an old problem of linking the east and west parts of the council. These areas were separated by the Vizela River.
Imagine a feast on the bridge. On that day, a feijoada was served for 500 people right on the bridge.
The Ponte da Aliança replaced the old Ponte Nova. The oldest reference to Ponte Nova dates back to 1735. It was too narrow for two cars to pass. Heavy vehicles couldn’t use it at all.
The new bridge spans 60 meters. It has a single arch. The architect designed it to connect with the old bridge. The bridge deck is 10 meters wide. It includes 1.5-meter pedestrian walkways on both sides.
