During the rebuilding, staff and pupils were temporarily relocated. They were based at Woodside School near Anderston. The new facility consists of the Abbey Building and the Mitre Building. It was completed in 2003. The school officially opened on December 3, 2004. Steven Purcell, a former pupil and Education Convener of Glasgow City Council, opened it. Today, St Thomas Aquinas Secondary School is one of the largest Roman Catholic schools in Glasgow. It has a capacity of over a thousand pupils.
