Masjid Al-Uzinani is one of Mecca’s oldest mosques. It stands near the Jannat al-Mu’alla cemetery. This makes it a significant site for visitors.
The mosque disappeared in floods once. People searched for its remnants in 1714. They found its mihrab three meters underground. It was rebuilt.
Masjid Al-Uzinani was also known as the Guard Mosque. Guards from Mecca gathered here during the Umayyad Caliphate. They were stationed across its regions.
