“Dogs, coffee – Waf else?” That’s the motto of a special place linked to the Cour du Moulin à Chiens. Imagine a place where you can sip your coffee surrounded by furry friends.
This is Le Waf, Europe’s first dog café. Le Waf isn’t directly in the Cour du Moulin à Chiens. But perhaps after our tour, you might want to visit. It’s a short walk away.
Since 2016, Le Waf has been a haven for dog lovers. It’s also been a stepping stone for canine adoption. More than 150 dogs from shelters and associations have found homes. These dogs found their forever families through Le Waf.
You can visit Le Waf. You can spend time with the resident dogs. You can even adopt one. The adoption process is well-structured. It includes an application and a home visit.
Le Waf usually has four permanent dogs. They also host one to three dogs awaiting adoption. You can play with them. You can cuddle them. And you can enjoy unlimited drinks.
Meet the Wafous. Loki is a Doberman mix. He loves naps and might give you a lick. Beans, also known as Don Binouz, loves to eat. Patate is the café’s star. Despite his large size, he’s friendly and welcoming. Gypsie, the oldest, loves naps and cuddles. Sadly, Gypsie passed away in December 2023.
Le Waf also partners with animal welfare organizations. These include Les Amis d’Ivar. It also includes La LPA. They also work with Les Truffes du Soleil and Les Oubliés de Roumanie. These partnerships help rescue, care for, and adopt animals in need.
Le Waf isn’t just a café. It’s a place where dogs and humans connect. It’s a place that has facilitated countless happy moments. The entrance fee helps support the dogs’ well-being.
