Founded in 1943 the Bible Way Church of God stands as a testament to faith. Elder Joseph Moore a man of unwavering devotion established this church. He served under Bishop R C Lawson for ten years. He tirelessly worked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Despite the hardship he remained dedicated to his ministry. His dream was to build a house of God for all.
Moore’s prayer for divine guidance was answered. He started his own church as instructed in Mark 1:15. The church’s initial location was at 129 Reid Avenue Brooklyn. Elder Joseph Miller and Sister Josephine Sheppard were among the first members. Sister Leola Moore Moore’s wife provided invaluable support. She was the church’s spiritual mother.
Despite a small initial membership the Bible Way Church of God grew rapidly. Through prayer and sacrifice many souls were added. The church moved to 295 Gates Avenue in 1950. A complete building dedication happened in 1953. Bishop Moore’s dedication to fasting and prayer fueled this success. He humbly sought God’s guidance in every step.
Bishop Moore became one of five founders of the Bible Way Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ World-Wide Inc in 1957. Sadly Bishop Moore passed away in 1966. He entrusted his legacy to Elder Huie L Rogers. Under Rogers’ leadership the church continued to thrive. In 1973 it moved to its current location at 261 Rochester Avenue Brooklyn. This location covers four city blocks. A significant renovation in 2009 led to the renaming of The Greater Bibleway Temple Apostolic Mecca.
The Bible Way Church of God is more than just a building. It’s a story of perseverance faith and community growth. It’s a legacy built on prayer sacrifice and unwavering devotion to God. It’s a place where the spirit of the Lord continues to transform lives. It’s a place that continues to fulfill its destiny.
