Imagine ordinary people seeking an extraordinary God. That’s the essence of The Door. This church at 502 E. Southcross welcomes everyone to a family. It is a place to belong.

The Door in San Antonio is more than just a church. It is a community on a journey. They strive to understand God better. They want to follow Him more closely. They seek to relate to Him more deeply.

The Door’s story traces back to a spiritual fire. This fire began in Prescott Arizona in 1970. Wayman Mitchell ignited it. From there, it spread across the globe. This vision continues to expand. The goal is to reach as many as possible before Jesus returns.

Isaac Cortez and his wife Doris pioneered The Door in San Antonio in April 1992. They aimed to impact their generation for Christ. They preached. They served. They evangelized. God blessed their work with many young people joining their church.

In October 2013, the Cortezes returned to South Africa. They continued the work the Lord started there. Pastor Willis Gordon and Liz took over at The Door. They continued the vision. This included soul winning, discipleship, world evangelism, and church planting.

The Door operates on five core values. These values shape its mission. They include worship, evangelism, devotion, fellowship, and discipleship. Worship involves glorifying God. Evangelism means spreading the Gospel. Devotion means committing to God’s will. Fellowship means building relationships. Discipleship means growing as followers of Christ.

The Door’s services offer various opportunities to connect. Sunday School starts at 9:45 AM. Sunday Morning service is at 11:00 AM. Sunday Evening service is at 6:30 PM. Wednesday Night service is at 7:30 PM.

The Door embraces the Great Commission. It strives to fulfill it. This is done through evangelism, discipleship, and church planting. The aim is both domestic and international. The Door wants to make disciples of all nations. This simple obedience drives the church’s passion.

Whether through Christian bands, movies, or street preaching, The Door focuses on leading people to Jesus. The Door invites you. Come and experience a family where you belong. Encounter the extraordinary God. The Door welcomes you home.
