Step onto the grounds of Sutton Middle School. Picture this bustling campus transformed. In 1972 Sutton Middle School opened its doors. It provided Atlanta students with a strong educational foundation. Many of the district’s finest educators taught here.
Thirty-four years later in 2006 a renovation project was completed. Students entered a completely modernized campus. A state-of-the-art facility emerged. It included a conference center a new media center and an arts complex. The arts complex housed the award-winning band orchestra art and drama departments. A new chorale department was added. Nine science labs five computer labs and a performing arts theater were also part of the upgrade.
Sutton Middle School embraced technology. It participated in the LINUX program. Four hundred supplemental computer terminals became available to faculty and students. The school also forged a partnership with North Atlanta High School. This collaboration led to International Baccalaureate World School Authorization in 2008. This authorization covered the middle years program MYP.
