Faridabad is the most populous city near Delhi in Haryana. It is part of the Delhi National Capital Region. This makes it a major satellite city around Delhi. It sits 284 kilometers south of Chandigarh, the state capital. The Yamuna River marks its eastern boundary with Uttar Pradesh.

Once, refugees reshaped Faridabad. After the 1947 partition, Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay led the resettlement of over 50,000 people here. This revival boosted the city’s economy and social structure.

But there’s a flip side. In 2018, the World Health Organization said Faridabad had the world’s second most polluted air. Faridabad also ranked among India’s dirtiest cities in 2020.

Faridabad is becoming a smart city. The goal is to modernize infrastructure and improve life for residents. It’s part of a national mission.

Let’s talk climate. Faridabad has a semi-arid climate. Summers are hot. The monsoon season brings heavy rain and humidity. Winters are comfortable with warm, sunny days.

Notice the blend of languages around us. Hindi is the official language. English and Punjabi are additional official languages. Haryanvi is the regional tongue.

Consider the administration that keeps Faridabad running. Key administrators oversee various departments. They ensure the city functions smoothly.

Faridabad’s economy is diverse. It is a major exporter of henna. Various government ministries have offices here. The city also fosters startups and innovation.

Getting around Faridabad is easy. The Delhi Metro connects Faridabad with Delhi. Several metro stations serve Faridabad. Buses and trains are also readily available.

Around here, you can still visit Badkhal Lake. It was once a popular spot fringed by Aravalli hills. The Surajkund International Crafts Fair attracts many visitors each year. The Anangpur Dam shows ancient hydraulic engineering. Raja Nahar Singh Palace shows local heritage. You can visit Baba Farid’s Tomb.
