Ridge Point High School opened in 2010. It was made to ease overcrowding at Hightower and Elkins high schools. Some Sienna Plantation residents questioned its location. Arcola residents liked the location. The school’s name honors local history. It references the Blue Ridge Oil Field. It also references the Buffalo Bayou, Brazos and Colorado Railway reaching Stafford’s Point in 1853. Ridge Point High School is one of two high schools in the district not named after a person.
