Wallington Presbyterian Church later joined the Presbyterian Church in the USA. Around 1945, Christ Presbyterian Church of Passaic merged with Wallington Presbyterian Church. This strengthened the church’s German heritage. Today, Wallington Presbyterian Church is part of the Presbytery of the Palisades.
Rev Dr Peter H Carey Jr led the Wallington Presbyterian Church for almost 38 years. His ministry focused on helping people in need. He welcomed everyone regardless of their church background. Rev Carey preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He aimed to show people their need for a Christ-centered life. Reconciliation and forgiveness were vital to him. Rev Carey was also a chaplain at Passaic Hospital for 40 years. He specialized in Hospice Care. He supported those with chronic illnesses and end-of-life issues.
Pastor Carey and nurse Marion Spranger ran the Parish Nursing program for over 25 years. This program was another outreach of the church. Pastor Carey believed the church should commit to Jesus Christ. He taught that everyone is a member of God’s Kingdom. The church’s mission is to make disciples of all nations.
The Ladies’ Guild is essential to Wallington Presbyterian Church. It includes church members and friends. They raise money through yard sales and dinners. These funds help the church in difficult times. The Board of Deacons also plays a crucial role. They are elected members who serve for three years. They support special services and raise funds. Their community outreach is very important.
