The congregation has a rich history. It started on November 10, 1889, with 21 dedicated members. Imagine those early days. The first church facility was at Speer and Logan in 1909. The congregation met there for 40 years.

In a bold move, the congregation sold the Speer and Logan facility to the Catholic Church. They decided to build a new home. In April 1949, they moved to the present facility at 480 Marion Street. Think of the excitement and anticipation as they settled into their new space.

Over time, the Community of Christ Church experienced growth. Several new congregations were established in Metro Denver. In 1968, the congregation joined the Eastern Colorado District. Later, it became part of the Denver Stake. The office was at 9501 Lou Drive, Denver CO 80260. In June 2003, it became part of the Rocky Mountain USA Mission Center. This center includes 31 congregations. The office remained at 9501 Lou Drive.

The Community of Christ Church emphasizes sacramental ordinances. These rites enhance the participant’s relationship with God. They empower personal discipleship. Communion is open to all. The blessing of children is a cherished event. Administration to the sick offers comfort. Marriage unites couples in faith. The Evangelist Blessing provides spiritual guidance. Baptism and confirmation welcome new members. Ordination recognizes ministers.

The church recognizes various offices of ministry. Members serve as Deacons, Teachers, Priests, Elders, and High Priests. Each role contributes to the community. Elders can be set apart as Seventies. High Priests may become Evangelists, Apostles, and Bishops. Some are chosen as Pastors or for Administrative roles. All members are called to serve. They bring joy and peace to others.

The International Headquarters for the Community of Christ is in Independence, Missouri. It is located at 1001 West Walnut. The headquarters is a hub of activity. It supports members in more than fifty countries.

The Temple in Independence, Missouri, is dedicated to peace. It is a place for reconciliation. It is a place for healing. It contains a large sanctuary. It also has a small chapel and a library. It serves as the headquarters for church leadership.

The Temple’s ministries are six-fold. It is a Worship Center. It is a Peace Center. It is an Abundant Life Center. It is a Missionary Center. It is an Education Center. It is a place for interfaith activities.
