“A new moon rises over Chengdu” or so the designers thought. Today we are standing before the magnificent Jinshang Bridge. This bridge is more than just a structure. It is a testament to Chengdu’s growth and connectivity.
The Jinshang Bridge officially opened on February 24 2024. This event marked a significant milestone for the city. It highlights the formation of the Jiazi Park Financial Business District. The bridge creates a seven-vehicle bridge across the river. It further connects the banks of the Jin River. This enhances the city’s road traffic capabilities. It makes travel more convenient for residents.
Located in the Chengdu Jiazi Park Financial Business District the Jinshang Bridge stretches approximately 431 meters. Its design concept is “Jiazi New Moon”. This design uses the mountain ridge to reflect the image of a new moon. It echoes the Jinjiang Bridge upstream.
The main bridge of the Jinshang Bridge features a steel structure. It is a system tie bridge. The bridge is about 34 meters wide. It uses a three-span continuous steel box girder to cross the Jin River. The span is 255 meters. The bridge towers are double cross braced. They use an octagonal spatial structure. The towers are approximately 48 meters high.
Construction of the Jinshang Bridge began in August 2022. By January 2023 the first steel box girder was erected. This kicked off the steel structure installation. In April 2023 the steel box girder was successfully joined ahead of schedule. By May 2023 the steel box arches were also connected ahead of schedule. This ensured the bridge was ready for traffic.
The Jinshang Bridge improves the regional road network. It eases traffic pressure. It also provides a better and safer travel environment for the public. It facilitates rapid connection between the east and west banks of the Jin River. This promotes coordinated functions and industrial links. It also expands industrial development space.
The bridge supports the construction of a green low-carbon high-quality development. It also promotes the adjustment of the four major structures in Chengdu. The Jinshang Bridge is an important channel project. It caters to the needs of vehicles pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles. It serves as a key traffic hub connecting the Hi-Tech Zone and Jinjiang District.
A resident Mr. Wang noted the bridge’s impact on commute times. He said that it saves travel time from the Financial City East to the incubation park.
