Let’s delve into what makes the Robertson Tryst Library & Learning Resource Centre so vital. Twenty years ago, in November 1992, this library officially opened its doors. The Robertson Trust Library and Learning Resource Centre has evolved. It has moved with the times to meet the needs of its students and staff.
Did you know that Robertson Construction Central West undertook a significant project to upgrade the University of Glasgow Library annexe? The work started in 2024. This annexe is a nine-story building. The building got a complete makeover both inside and out. The goal? To modernise it as part of the university’s broader development plans.
The upgrades included replacing the roof and wall cladding with modern, energy-efficient materials. New double-glazed windows with enhanced insulation were installed. These improvements aimed to boost energy efficiency and meet current technical standards.
Inside the Robertson Tryst Library & Learning Resource Centre annexe, changes were made to improve comfort. Ventilation, heating, and cooling systems saw improvements. The design also increased the amount of natural light. Students now benefit from more access to power outlets for their devices. Soundproof barriers were installed to minimise any noise disruption.
Robertson was first appointed to the University of Glasgow construction framework back in 2016. They’ve also worked on the James Watt Building and the A-listed Joseph Black Building. The Robertson Trust supports organisations that work with communities facing poverty. They also help those at risk of experiencing trauma.
The Robertson Tryst Library & Learning Resource Centre also delivers Transport Grants. This helps people with transport. The Robertson Trust offers Wee Grants. These grants fund initiatives at a local level. Wee Grants specifically target efforts that address the impacts of poverty and trauma in local communities.
Andy McLinden of Robertson Construction Central West emphasized the project’s significance. He said it represents a major step in their ongoing partnership with the University of Glasgow.
