The church, nestled in Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island, stands as a testament to the dedication of a small group of believers. The Galápagos Islands, known for their unique wildlife, also hold a unique tale of spiritual growth. In 1997, a tour guide named André Degel, rediscovered his faith in Quito. He returned to Santa Cruz with a list of members and a mission to revive the Church. He found members he knew, unaware of their shared faith. They began meeting, studying scriptures, and supporting each other. This small group, initially just four families, became the heart of the Iglesia Católica Santa Cruz El Edén. They met in homes, rented spaces, and eventually a former hotel as they grew to nearly 100 members. Their unity and service were remarkable. They helped each other, held mingas (community service projects), and even built a house for a family in need. In 2007, several families traveled to the Guayaquil Ecuador Temple to be sealed. This experience strengthened their faith and commitment. The Iglesia Católica Santa Cruz El Edén is a testament to the power of community and faith in a remote and challenging environment.
