Established in 1958, Guangdong Pharmaceutical University wasn’t always the esteemed institution you see today. It began humbly as the Guangdong provincial health department’s advanced studies college. Imagine those early days, a small group of dedicated individuals driven by a passion for health and medicine. Guangdong Pharmaceutical University’s journey reflects China’s own transformation. In 1978, mirroring the nation’s opening up, the college expanded its horizons. It became the Guangdong Medical and Pharmaceutical College, offering undergraduate courses and training the next generation of healthcare professionals. Then, a pivotal moment in 1994. The university streamlined its focus, becoming the Guangdong Pharmaceutical College. This specialization in pharmacy laid the groundwork for its future prominence. The final transformation arrived in March 2016. Guangdong Pharmaceutical College officially became Guangdong Pharmaceutical University. This marked a recognition of its growth, its commitment to excellence, and its vital role in pharmaceutical education. Today, Guangdong Pharmaceutical University has expanded across five campuses. Three are in Guangzhou, with the main campus nestled in the Guangzhou Mega Education Center. The university is home to nearly 20 colleges and departments, two affiliated tertiary hospitals, and over 22,000 students. Its program offerings are extensive, spanning 47 undergraduate majors.
