Brossard, a vibrant city nestled within the Greater Montreal area, owes its name to the prominent Brossard family, whose roots in the area trace back to 1766. The family name, derived from the word “brushwood,” symbolizes the city’s remarkable growth and transformation. Brossard officially emerged on Valentine’s Day in 1958, separating from La Prairie-de-la-Madeleine Parish. Georges-Henri Brossard, a prominent figure who had served as mayor of the parish, became Brossard’s first mayor. Imagine a small community of 3,400 souls, embarking on a journey of expansion and development. Brossard quickly evolved, incorporating land from Greenfield Park in 1964 and annexing Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Cœur in 1978. This annexation created the “A” section, a testament to the city’s growth.
