Did you know that Canyon Springs High School opened in 2004? It stands as a beacon of education in North Las Vegas. Canyon Springs High School is more than just classrooms and hallways. It’s a place where students are encouraged to “Start Strong. Stay Strong. Be Strong. Finish Strong.”

Canyon Springs High School houses the Leadership and Law Preparatory Academy. This unique program offers students eight distinct majors. These include Law, International Affairs and Robotics. Students can also study Multi-Media Communications and Cybersecurity. Business Leadership, Forensic Science and Landscape Design are also options.

But that is not all. Canyon Springs High School provides generous elective options. Students can learn world languages such as Spanish, French and Chinese. Culinary arts, child development and teaching are also available. If you are interested in the arts, you can join band, mariachi or choir. Visual arts, photography, speech and debate are also options. Students can even participate in Air Force JROTC.

Adam Canfield is the current principal of Canyon Springs High School. He oversees a staff of 100 full-time employees. Together they educate approximately 2,810 students. This results in a student-to-teacher ratio of 28.10.

The school’s athletic teams are known as the Pioneers. They compete in the Sunrise 4A Region. In 2011, the boys’ basketball team won the Nevada 4A title. In 2024, the boys’ soccer team followed suit.

Freddie Banks coaches the basketball team. In 2017-18, his team had an impressive record of 24-3. They were ranked 4th in the state.

Canyon Springs High School has produced some notable alumni. Juron Criner plays wide receiver for the Ottawa Redblacks. Donnel Pumphrey played running back for the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Leadership and Law Preparatory Academy is a magnet school of excellence. Magnet Schools of America recognized it for the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 school years. The academy provides students with Apple MacBook Air computers. They can use Microsoft Office applications for their projects. The campus also includes a fully functioning courtroom.
