How many lakes do you think exist in the Galapagos Islands? The answer might surprise you. Here at El Junco, we stand beside the only permanent freshwater lake in the entire archipelago. Frigatebirds, normally ocean dwellers, come to El Junco to bathe and clean their feathers. White-cheeked pintails and common gallinules glide across the surface.
