The Jocelyn Morris Quad gets its name from a cluster of student accommodation buildings. These buildings sit at the junction of Iffley Road and Stockmore Street.
Let’s delve into what makes this quad so special. The Jocelyn Morris Quad comprises several buildings. These are Stockmore House. Rosalind Hill House is an extension to Stockmore House. Catherine Fulford House was formerly Fulford House. Sylvia Mann House was formerly 85/87 Iffley Road. Each building contributes to the quad’s unique character. They all share a central garden.
What is it like to live here? The Jocelyn Morris Quad offers more than just a room. It provides a sense of belonging. It is available to finalists only on a 40-week license. Every College room is regularly cleaned by a college ‘scout’. There are laundries in three of the on-site buildings and at the Jocelyn Morris Quad. Card or mobile pay machines and ironing facilities are in each of the buildings.
Thinking about accessibility. St Hilda’s College strives to be inclusive. There is one accessible flat at Jocelyn Morris Quad on Iffley Road. The Jocelyn Morris Quad is about 500 m away from the main college site. There is step-free access around the quad to the ground floor of all buildings.
Let’s talk about getting inside. There’s secure access to the Quad. A card reader is 120cm high and activates a powered door. The door has a clear width of 120 cm.
The accessible bedrooms are in Rosalind Hill House. There is step-free access. No lift. The accessible flat is on the ground floor. There’s secure access to the building. A card reader is 85 cm high. It activates a powered door. The door has a clear width of 126 cm.
Inside, there are three accessible bedrooms. They are located off a central lobby area. No en suite facilities. Bedrooms share a central bathroom. It has an accessible toilet and shower. At the bathroom, the sink and shower have support rails both sides. The toilet has support rails on one side only.
The accessible toilet is 1.5 m wide by 2.5 m deep. There are support rails by the toilet and sink. There is good visual contrast between support rails and surrounding walls.
The kitchen is shared with all accessible bedrooms. It is reasonably spacious. The worktop and sink is 90 cm high. No knee recess to worktop and sink.
