Standing right here, at the edge of the village of Plymouth Meeting, I see a monument to a time long past. This is Abolition Hall, a place where courageous souls stood up for what was right. Many years ago, a quiet family by the name of Corson made this their home. They were fervent abolitionists, deeply troubled by the cruelty of slavery. Their home became a beacon of hope for countless slaves fleeing across the dangerous Underground Railroad. They provided food, shelter, and a safe haven until they could continue their perilous journey North to freedom. This was also a place where prominent abolitionists, including Frederick Douglass and Harriet Beecher Stowe, spoke out against the evils of slavery. The house is now a National Register of Historic Places site, an enduring testament to the Corsons’ courage and compassion. This story will be told for generations to come, a legacy of hope that lives on through Abolition Hall.
