Over 100 bird species call this oasis home. Keep an eye out for the Sparrowhawk. Listen for the drumming of the Great Spotted Woodpecker. The Eurasian Green Woodpecker also resides here. You might even catch a glimpse of the elusive Eurasian Wryneck or hear the call of the Common Cuckoo.
Tawny Owls silently patrol the night skies of Oasi Le Foppe. During the day Little Egrets and Cattle Egrets stalk the water’s edge. Blackcaps and Firecrests flit among the branches. The delightful song of the European Serin fills the air.
The Oasi Le Foppe is located within the Adda Nord Park. It encompasses roughly 5.5 hectares. The area’s spontaneous recovery reflects conditions typical of the mid-Po Valley. Wetlands, forests and shrubs create an explosion of floral diversity.
These wetlands host plants that thrive in perpetually wet conditions. Sedges, rushes, cattails, irises and duckweed carpet the water’s surface. Keep an eye out for rarer species. Black locust trees dominate the northern and southern sections of Oasi Le Foppe. The central area largely closed to the public offers a haven for white willows. Black poplars, aspens and cherry trees also thrive. A rich undergrowth of shrubs completes the landscape.
