Right here, on Shore Road, Rabbi Shalom and Sara Paltiel started Chabad of Port Washington in 1991 with virtually no resources. It now encompasses a wide range of educational, religious, and social programs for people of all ages. The campus even boasts a bustling gymnasium, welcoming over 200 children and adults each week, regardless of their faith. The Paltiels’ vision resonated deeply with the community, both Jewish and non-Jewish. Their 25th-anniversary celebration in 2016 was a testament to the impact they made. Honorees included local philanthropists Howard and Jordan Fensterman, and Fern Cohen, a dedicated community member. Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, a prominent figure in the Chabad world, even delivered a keynote address. Chabad of Port Washington continues to thrive, a testament to the power of community and the vision of its founders.
