Right here in front of you stands YES Prep Southeast, a school with a story that’s anything but ordinary. It’s a beacon of hope, a testament to the power of education, and a place where dreams are nurtured, cultivated, and eventually, realized. It all began in 1998 when Christopher Barbic, inspired by the dedication of teachers he admired, wanted to create a place where students could achieve anything. At first, his vision was a 6-12th grade school. The first graduation ceremony was held in 2001. Later, the YES Prep School expanded into multiple campuses across the Houston area. It was a challenging but rewarding journey. YES Prep Southeast, as the first campus, has a special place in the heart of the YES Prep community. The school is known for its rigorous academics, its commitment to community service, and its high graduation rate. It was ranked #40 on Newsweek Magazine’s Top 100 High Schools list in 2007. Every spring, YES Prep Southeast students go on a trip to the United States to experience other cities, historic sites, and leading colleges and universities. Through these experiences, students broaden their horizons and gain a deeper understanding of the world around them. The school also has a strong focus on college preparation. It helps its students navigate the college application process and provides support through mentoring and scholarships. It has become a pillar of the Houston community and is a true success story in the world of education. It’s a place where students learn, grow, and are empowered to reach their full potential.
