In 1982, a transformation began at Weidendamm 9 in Hanover. The Ayasofya Moschee, inspired by the Hagia Sophia, found its home in a former furniture store. The Islamic Community Milli Görüs (IGMG) of Hanover meticulously converted the building, creating a space for prayer and community. The main prayer hall of the Ayasofya Moschee can accommodate approximately 800 worshippers. In 2009, a stunning glass dome was installed, bathing the hall in natural light.
