What began as door-to-door encounters blossomed into a vibrant community. This is the story of Calvary Pentecostal Church of God. Calvary Pentecostal Church of God sprouted from the dedication of three men who, back in August of 1982, set out with a vision for Northwest Houston. They diligently conducted a religious census, knocking on thousands of doors and planting seeds of faith. Their efforts bore fruit, and on the last Sunday of September 1982, Calvary Pentecostal Church of God held its inaugural service. One hundred and seventy-five souls attended, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey. Calvary Pentecostal Church of God thrived on its evangelical spirit, drawing in members from various local churches who committed to nurturing this newfound community. Their commitment extended beyond Sunday services. Weekday meetings found a home in a warehouse complex near Highway 290 and Jones Road. They even held services in a movie theater near West Road and Highway 6, where the aroma of popcorn served as a unique backdrop. Through years of growth and transition, Calvary Pentecostal Church of God’s commitment to its community never wavered. They sought a permanent space, a beacon of faith, and their journey led them to their current location. In 1987, they took a leap of faith, purchasing property and constructing a building that stands as a testament to their unwavering belief. Calvary Pentecostal Church of God transformed from humble beginnings into a testament to faith. It reminds us that even the smallest seed, nurtured with dedication and love, can blossom into something extraordinary.
