Here, standing tall on the edge of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, we stand before the mighty Delta Airlines Corporation. The company has been based here in Atlanta since 1941, when it made its move from Monroe, Louisiana. Now, we see how much has grown from an operation that, more than a century ago, began in Macon, Georgia, as Huff Daland Dusters – the world’s first aerial crop dusting service! While Delta’s legacy traces back to those humble beginnings, it’s a far cry from its current status as one of the world’s largest airlines, employing over 100,000 people. As you look at the headquarters, it’s worth noting that it’s considered the largest full-service MRO, or Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul, in all of North America. Of course, the heart of the company is still flying, and Delta maintains its position as the second largest airline fleet in the whole world, with over 985 aircraft flying to destinations on six continents. What was once dusting crops to fight the boll weevil infestation has become a force connecting us all!
