A curious name for a striking sculpture. The Tripylon Sculpture here at the University Hospital Freiburg. It’s a bold, steel creation by Roland Phleps. Tripylon, meaning “three gates,” evokes a sense of passage or transition. It’s a fitting symbol for a place dedicated to healing and transformation. The sculpture was originally situated in front of the Sports Medicine building. It stood tall against the backdrop of medical breakthroughs and human resilience. The Tripylon Sculpture is made of steel, a material known for its strength and durability, mirroring the resilience of the human spirit. Currently, the Tripylon is temporarily removed due to construction on the site. It’s a testament to its importance that it’s planned to be reinstalled in the same spot after the construction is complete. Imagine the patients and staff, looking forward to its return, a familiar symbol of hope amidst the bustle of the hospital. The Tripylon will stand again. It will continue to inspire, marking a point of passage and reminding us of the constant cycle of change and renewal.
