It also ranks as one of the oldest in all of North America.

Imagine the early days of Saint Mary and Saint Antonios Coptic Orthodox Church. A small group of believers gathered seeking a place to practice their faith. From those humble beginnings Saint Mary and Saint Antonios Coptic Orthodox Church grew steadily. Soon Coptic parishes began emerging throughout New York City and the entire state. This flourishing led to the establishment of approximately 15 Coptic Orthodox Churches across New York State.

In September 1989 a significant milestone was reached. Pope Shenouda III made a pastoral visit. He consecrated Saint Mary and Saint Antonios Coptic Orthodox Church solidifying its importance within the Coptic community.

Today Saint Mary and Saint Antonios Coptic Orthodox Church serves over 300 Coptic families. Three dedicated priests lead liturgies and provide spiritual guidance. The church at 606 Woodward Ave in Ridgewood is a beacon of faith for many. In 2011 the church expanded with a second building. Located at 62-54 60th Place this addition houses the altars of Queen Helen and Anna Simone.

September 14 2018 was another special day. His Holiness Pope Tawadros II visited. He consecrated the altar of Queen Helen and Queen Anna Simone adding another layer of significance to Saint Mary and Saint Antonios Coptic Orthodox Church. In March 2019 Woodward Avenue was co-named ‘Father Youhanna T Girgis Way’. This was a loving tribute to Abouna Hanna a beloved father of the church.
