Stepping back in time, imagine Osaka in 1958. A new school emerges, Osaka Shiritsu Miyakojima Chugakko. Created from a section of the former Sakuranomiya Junior High School, Osaka Shiritsu Miyakojima Chugakko stands as a testament to the city’s post-war recovery. Initially planned as a public park, this land was repurposed. The need for education outweighed the desire for recreation. Osaka Shiritsu Miyakojima Chugakko quickly became a vital part of the community. The school is located in Miyakojima Ward. It opened its doors on April 1, 1958. The official opening ceremony, complete with the dedication of the school building, took place a few weeks later on April 23. This date is now celebrated annually as the school’s foundation day. In a unique twist, Osaka Shiritsu Miyakojima Chugakko also houses a hospital school. Located within the Osaka City General Medical Center, this special branch caters to students undergoing medical treatment. Ensuring that education continues even during challenging times. From its humble beginnings to its current multifaceted role, Osaka Shiritsu Miyakojima Chugakko has served generations of Osaka’s youth. It represents resilience, adaptation, and the enduring importance of learning.
