Minoh lies about 15 kilometers north of Osaka’s city center. It is a suburban city forming part of the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe metropolitan area.
Minoh Park is a treasure. It offers a retreat from Osaka’s urban life. The park covers a vast area of 83.8 hectares. Visitors enjoy the fresh greenery in spring. They appreciate the cool of summer. The autumn colors are a sight to behold. Even winter offers serenity. Admission to the park is free. A walk along the promenade is the standard way to explore the park.
Minoh Waterfall is the park’s highlight. The dynamic waterfall has a 33-meter drop. It is one of Japan’s top 100 waterfalls. The waterfall’s name comes from its resemblance to winnowing. This is a traditional farming technique. The Japanese word for “winnow basket” is “mino”.

Access to Minoh Waterfall is easy. Take the Hankyu train from Umeda Osaka. It is a 30-minute ride to Hankyu Minoh Station. From there it is a 40-minute walk to the waterfall. The path leads through souvenir stores. It continues along Minoh Waterfall Road. This riverside walking path marks the Minoh Park entrance. Signs guide visitors to the falls.

Minoh Waterfall Road offers gourmet treats. Cafes souvenir stores and restaurants line the path. One famous snack is Momiji-no-tempura. This is maple leaf tempura. Edible maple leaves are dipped in salt. Then they are dipped in batter. Finally they are deep fried. This snack has a crunchy texture and a sweet taste. Enjoy Momiji no tempura while walking around.

Katsuo-ji is near Minoh Park. It is a temple on a mountainside. The temple displays various flowers depending on the season. Katsuo-ji is famous as a “temple of luck”. Daruma dolls are dedicated here. People pray for victory in academics work and sports.
Minoh Onsen Spa Garden is between Hankyu Minoh Station and the park entrance. Enjoy a hot spring bath after a walk.
