Ma’ayanot, meaning “springs” in Hebrew, is more than just a name; it’s a reflection of the community’s spirit. Established in 1988, Kehilat Ma’ayanot holds the distinction of being the first traditional, egalitarian minyan in Jerusalem. This vibrant community, nestled in the Arnona-Talpiot area, thrives on the values of equality, tradition, and social responsibility. Imagine a space where around 100 families, a mix of Ashkenazim and Sephardim, singles and seniors, native Israelis and olim from all corners of the world come together. Here at Ma’ayanot, men and women share equal responsibilities and rights in religious practice. They take turns leading services, delivering Divrei Torah, and coordinating community events. Ma’ayanot is a testament to the dynamism of Jewish tradition, constantly seeking a harmonious balance between the old and the new.
