Beneath the shade of ancient trees in Gossler’s Park, a story unfolds. Gossler’s Park isn’t just a green expanse. It’s a living testament to Hamburg’s rich history. In 1790, merchant John Blacker purchased this land, known as Krähenberg. He envisioned a tranquil escape, an English landscape garden. Gossler’s Park then passed through several hands. Daniel Roß became the next owner. Then came John Henry Gossler, the man who gave the park its name. In 1924, Gossler’s Park opened its gates to the public, a gift to the city of Hamburg. The grand Goßlerhaus stands proudly atop a hill in Gossler’s Park. Its white, classical facade gleams in the sunlight. Christian F. Hansen, a renowned architect, designed this magnificent structure in 1794. The original owner John Blacker commissioned the Goßlerhaus as his country retreat. John Henry Gossler later expanded the Goßlerhaus and rebuilt it after a devastating fire. Today, both the park and the Goßlerhaus are protected historical landmarks. A stroll through Gossler’s Park reveals a hidden gem. The street, aptly named Gossler’s Park, meanders through this tranquil haven. It’s a picturesque reminder of the park’s connection to the city.
