Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Seri Rampai officially opened its doors on December 1, 1993. It was founded to implement the diverse education system introduced by the Ministry of Education Malaysia. The school’s name comes from its location in Taman Seri Rampai. Puan Khadisah Bt Awang was the first principal in 1994. There were 27 teachers and only 5 support staff at the time.
In 2009, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Seri Rampai had 462 male and 369 female students. That made a total of 831 students. There were 56 teachers. As of December 1, 2017, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Seri Rampai celebrated its 24th anniversary. By then, the school had grown to include 78 teachers. It also had 12 support staff and 37 classes.
