Pastor Xiao’s vision brought Harvest Church of New York to life. It all began in October 2001. New York City was reeling from the 9/11 attacks. The city was in a state of shock and uncertainty. Yet, amidst the despair, a small group gathered. They were inspired by Pastor Tong Liu’s vision of a “Glorious Church”. They felt a calling to bring faith and hope to a wounded city. Harvest Church of New York held its first service at the Adria Hotel in Bayside. The official opening ceremony followed on April 13, 2002. The church quickly grew. It became a beacon of hope in the community. In 2007, the church expanded its reach. It planted its first daughter church, Harvest Church of New Jersey, in Jersey City. For many years, the Adria Hotel served as the church’s home. Then, in 2013, a remarkable opportunity arose. The church acquired land in Little Neck. This area, spanning Queens and Nassau counties, was strategically located. It offered convenient access to highways and commercial centers. It was also close to a growing Chinese community. This presented a fertile ground for spreading the Gospel. Construction of a new worship hall began in 2016. By Christmas 2018, the congregation moved into its new home. Today, Harvest Church of New York thrives with over 600 members. It continues to serve as a testament to the power of faith and community. The church’s journey reflects the resilience of New York City. It demonstrates how hope can flourish even in the darkest of times. Harvest Church of New York stands as a symbol of renewal and spiritual growth.
