In the heart of North Hollywood, a hidden gem awaits. Emmanuel Lutheran Church stands as a testament to faith and community. Emmanuel Lutheran Church began its journey in 1945 with a small group of 83 devoted members. They initially held services at the Odd Fellow’s Hall, located at the corner of Magnolia and Cahuenga. Quickly outgrowing this space, they moved to the Eagle’s Hall, also on Cahuenga. Their determination led them to purchase 7.2 acres of land at the corner of Oxnard and Radford. This seemingly “good for nothing” land, purchased for a mere $9,000, would become the permanent home of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Imagine the scene in 1946. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new sanctuary marked the beginning of a new chapter. Just a year later, Emmanuel Lutheran Church launched Laurel Hall, a school named by a young congregant. The church also published its first monthly newsletter, The Builder, keeping the community connected. In 1947, the sanctuary, now known as Parish Hall, was dedicated, and the church purchased its first organ. Emmanuel Lutheran Church continues to thrive as a diverse and loving community. It values its Lutheran heritage, embraces traditional worship, and extends an open and inclusive welcome to all. The church operates Laurel Hall School and Laurel Hall Preschool, serving the community and extending its Christian outreach. Emmanuel Lutheran Church stands as a beacon of faith, a symbol of perseverance, and a testament to the power of community.
