Founded in 2000 by a passionate group who envisioned a dynamic space for young minds, the Kindermuseum Zinnober initially popped up in various locations throughout Hanover. Finally, in 2014, it found its home in Linden, a charming district of the city. This first home, a villa offering 300 square meters, quickly became a haven for curious children. The Kindermuseum Zinnober isn’t just about looking; it’s about doing. Interactive exhibits beckon children aged three to thirteen to delve into a world of hands-on learning. In 2019, the year before the world changed, the museum welcomed approximately 18,000 visitors, mostly schoolchildren and kindergarten groups. The museum’s popularity speaks volumes about its unique approach to education. Fast forward to 2021, and the Kindermuseum Zinnober took a giant leap forward, moving into a much larger space. Now boasting 800 square meters, the museum occupies a renovated former youth center. Thanks to the Gundlach construction company, this space has been transformed into a wonderland of exploration. The new building includes a dedicated Forscherwerkstatt, a workshop for budding scientists, and a Kreativatelier, a studio where creativity knows no bounds. Exhibits at the Kindermuseum Zinnober rotate annually, ensuring a fresh wave of discovery with each visit. The exhibits are designed as immersive experience stations. They encourage children to investigate topics like music, math, crafts, the human body, and even urban planning. Workshops further enhance the learning experience, offering deeper dives into specific subjects. Even in 2023, the Kindermuseum Zinnober continued to embrace opportunities to connect with the community. It actively participated in the International Museum Day, inviting even more families to experience the magic within its walls.
