“The new Lerici Building has been opened”. That’s what they said at the inauguration. Today we explore Edificio 3A Lerici. It stands as a testament to modern architectural innovation. Edificio 3A Lerici enhances the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. It provides the Politecnico community with more high-quality spaces. These spaces encourage students to fully embrace campus life.
The building now known as Edificio 3A was completed recently. Before its construction, the area was occupied by the old Lerici building. This older structure dated back to the 1940s and 1950s.
Notice the location. Edificio 3A Lerici is situated between buildings 3 and 5. It extends towards via Celoria. It covers an area of 1278 square meters. The rectangular structure features a unique design. It includes a lower ground floor and two floors above ground. A flat roof completes the structure. Solar panels are installed at different heights.
Observe the building’s composition. It allowed architects to create three levels of green roofing. Nine tall trees have been planted on these roofs. They add a touch of nature to the urban environment.
The building’s facades are striking. They feature curtain walls made of glass and opaque panels. Visible blocks of concrete masonry add texture. Colored plaster provides a vibrant finish.
The facade facing via Celoria is particularly noteworthy. It is intensely green. This design creates a vertical continuity with the garden terraces. The green facade integrates the building with its surroundings.
Inside Edificio 3A Lerici you’ll find modern facilities. There are offices and spaces for postdocs and PhD students. The Galab and SismosoilLab Applied Geophysics Laboratories are housed here. Also the Geodetic and Photogrammetric Measurements Laboratory are inside.
Many important figures attended the inauguration. Rector Ferruccio Resta was present. Vice Rector Emilio Faroldi also attended. General Director Graziano Dragoni was there. The Director of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Alberto Guadagnini was present too. Architect Daniel Marcaccio from the Real Estate Construction and Development Division was responsible for the project.
Edificio 3A Lerici stands as a symbol. It represents the Polytechnic’s commitment to progress. It embodies sustainable design principles. It provides a dynamic space for learning and research.
