Don’t let its current role as a power company’s headquarters fool you. The Entergy Tower, once known as One Poydras Plaza, held a secret hidden in plain sight. It housed the Consulate-General of Japan! Imagine walking these very sidewalks, perhaps even stepping inside to apply for a visa or experience a slice of Japanese culture. But the winds of change blew in 2006 when the Japanese government decided to relocate their consulate. They sought a new home closer to booming Japanese industries, a strategic move that landed them in Nashville, Tennessee. And so, the Entergy Tower carries on, a silent witness to the ever-changing tides of global affairs and economic shifts.
