The Mission Ballroom opened in August 2019. It’s a vibrant space designed for the ultimate concert experience.
Eleven years of planning went into this project. Chuck Morris CEO of AEG Presents spearheaded the effort. He envisioned a venue that would rival Denver’s existing iconic spaces like Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The location near the historic Denver Coliseum was strategically chosen. This placement anchored a new mixed-use development project. This included retail spaces a boutique hotel and residential housing.
Works Progress Architecture designed the building. They focused on flexibility. The Mission Ballroom transforms depending on the event. It can hold anywhere from 2200 to 3950 people. The bowl-like seating ensures amazing sightlines for everyone. Westfield Development partnered with AEG. They helped create the music venue as a centerpiece of the North Wynkoop District.
Financed by FirstBank the 60000 square foot venue boasts state-of-the-art sound and lighting. The sound system by D&B Audiotechnik is unique. It uses a noise-cancelling system. This eliminates muddled noise from the sides and rear of the speakers. The moving stage further adds to the adaptability. It allows for various configurations and a massive dance floor.
Don Strasburg Co-President of AEG Presents highlighted the venue’s mission. They wanted a space that focused on live music. It needed to work for many types of audiences. A key detail? The front row along the balcony is always general admission. This ensures all fans have access to the best energy regardless of their budget. The Lumineers were the first to grace the stage on opening night.
