Where did the name Giồng Trôm come from? Many believe it originates from the abundance of Sterculia foetida trees once flourishing here. These trees were so prevalent the area became known as Giồng Trôm. Giồng Trôm means Sterculia foetida forest. This rural district in Bến Tre province is located in the Mekong Delta.
