A miniature Alps in Berlin. Can you believe it? Right here in the heart of Charlottenburg sits the Österreichpark a vibrant green space along the Spree River.

Before its 2013 renovation this area was known as the Sommeringanlage named after the 18th-century scientist Samuel Thomas von Soemmering. It was rather neglected a forgotten patch of land. Then came a transformation.

The Österreichpark wasn’t a solely German project. Nine Austrian states each contributed. They even showcased their regional foods during the grand opening. Imagine the smells the tastes of Austria right here in Berlin.

The park is small only 3000 square meters. Yet it’s packed with Austrian charm. Salzburg benches invite you to rest. Paths wind invitingly. A telescope even offers a unique view. Not a real telescope though. It’s an art installation showing the Tyrolean Alps.

But the true gem is the alpine rock garden. Kärnten granite stones support mountain plants. It’s like a slice of the Austrian landscape a tiny piece of the Alps transplanted to Berlin. This little piece of Austria is nestled between the Mierendorffplatz and the Caprivi Bridge. It stretches 200 meters along the Spree’s northern bank.

The Österreichpark is more than just a pretty place. It’s a testament to collaboration. It shows how Austria and Germany can come together to create something beautiful. It’s a little piece of the Alps a little piece of Austria in Berlin. Come explore it.

It’s a place where you can relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. But also a spot that tells a story of partnership and renewal. A unique park in a unique city. This is the Österreichpark. A captivating glimpse of Austria in the heart of Berlin.
