Hidden within the curves of the legendary Isle of Man TT Course, The Blackdub at Mile 9 whispers tales of speed and transformation. The Blackdub isn’t just a spot on the map. It’s a living testament to the island’s racing heritage, a place where the echoes of roaring engines mingle with the murmur of history. The Blackdub’s story begins in 1945, not as a racing landmark, but as a humble watermill known as Glen Moar Mill. Visual records of this era are scarce. Yet, the original building still stands, a silent witness to the passage of time. The modern chapter of The Blackdub started in 2017. New owners embarked on an ambitious journey to transform this historic site. By 2019, former ‘tea rooms’ had been converted into cozy cottages, accommodating up to 20 guests. A unique VIP viewing point was also created, offering an unparalleled perspective of the races. The transformation continued. In 2022, a 140-seat grandstand arose, solidifying The Blackdub’s place as a prime viewing location. A permanent bar, a retail shop featuring “The Black Dub” clothing range, and various food options were added. An outdoor lounge, equipped with heated and illuminated umbrellas, provided a comfortable space for evening practices and events. The Blackdub’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. But, with each hurdle overcome, the vision has grown clearer. Looking toward the future, plans are in place to expand both the grandstand and VIP viewing areas by 2024, enhancing the spectator experience. The Blackdub at Mile 9 embodies the spirit of innovation and a deep passion for racing.
