Is it just me, or can you feel a sense of peace in the air here at the Bandra Jewish Cemetery? It’s a relatively small cemetery, established in 1957. The Bandra Jewish Cemetery was built to serve the Jewish community that resided in Bandra and its nearby areas. This was in addition to the existing Jewish Cemetery located on Dr. E. Moses Road in Worli, which was much larger. Over the years, the Bandra Jewish Cemetery faced neglect and fell into disrepair. Thankfully, a dedicated Caretaker Committee stepped in to restore this sacred ground in November 2022. They have worked tirelessly to clean the graves, improve security, and enhance the landscaping. Today, the Bandra Jewish Cemetery stands as a testament to the Jewish community’s presence in Mumbai and their respect for their heritage. It’s a place where history and tranquility intertwine.
