Born in a small village nestled in the hills of Rize, Mustafa Parlar’s journey began in 1925. Now, standing before the Mustafa Parlar Anıtı, we trace the path of this remarkable man. After completing his education in the United States, earning degrees from prestigious institutions like the Illinois Institute of Technology and Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, Parlar returned to Turkey. He served as the Director of Education, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. Parlar also held the esteemed position of Rector at METU. Beyond academia, Parlar’s influence extended to national policy. He served as a member of parliament, advocating for the advancement of science and technology. His work with TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) further solidified his role as a key figure in Turkey’s technological development.
