“Can you imagine this peaceful place once being part of a grand villa?” I asked, gesturing towards the Casaccia. The Casaccia, my friends, is all that remains of the once magnificent Villa Lippi Rucellai. This unassuming ruin whispers tales of a bygone era, a time when this land echoed with laughter and the clinking of glasses. Sadly, the villa met an untimely end in 1942, demolished to make way for the Nuovo Pignone factory. It’s a stark reminder of how progress can sometimes come at a cost. But even in its fragmented state, the Casaccia holds onto its secrets, inviting us to piece together its story, like archaeologists of time.
