Once a vital oasis, Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs now welcomes us. This 2040-acre park offers a serene escape. It is a stark contrast to the bustling city of Las Vegas.

Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs boasts a rich history. Native Americans once camped here. They were drawn to the natural springs. These springs created an oasis in the Mojave Desert. The sparse rainfall deterred early development.

Later, the area became a tiny ranch. In the 1940s, Tule Springs transformed into a dude ranch. Socialites seeking Nevada divorces frequented it. They comfortably awaited their residency requirements. The ranch accommodated ten to twelve people.

In the 1960s, the property transitioned again. It became a cattle ranch. In 1977, it was designated Floyd Lamb State Park. Minor modifications were made to its dude-ranch appearance. The park was named after Nevada State Senator Floyd Lamb.

The city took control of the park in 2007. It was renamed Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs. The park includes the Tule Springs Ranch. It also includes the Tule Springs Archaeological Site. The Tule Springs Wash and four ponds are other features.

There are 21 structures. Seven are one-story concrete-block buildings. They feature wood-frame gable roofs. A small hill stands as the centerpiece. Tall trees, grass, and roaming peacocks adorn it. Animal dwellings are located to the north. The caretaker’s home runs east to west. A huge barn sits nearby.

Tule Springs Lake is the largest. Mulberry Lake, Cottonwood Lake, and Desert Willow Lake follow. Abundant fishing is available in these ponds. Ducks, herons, and peacocks populate the lake area.

Floyd Lamb Park attracts over 200000 visitors annually. People come for picnics, birding, and fishing. They also enjoy biking, hiking, and photography. The park offers respite from city life.

The park features a 2-mile-long walking path. This is perfect for children. However, keep them under observation. Larger birds can sometimes become rambunctious.
