Born from the need for housing Penilee’s story unfolds. Penilee a planned community on Glasgow’s southwestern edge. It arose to house workers at the nearby Hillington Industrial Estate. This was in 1938 when Penilee joined Glasgow. Modernist architecture is visible in the flat roofs. You can see horizontal windows and ship-deck balcony rails on some houses.
