What tales do these streets whisper of Klein Tastrup? This part of Flensburg holds stories of knights and farmers. It echoes with the sounds of a village growing into a modern community.

Klein Tastrup. Its name means “Little Tastrup” in Danish “Lille Tostrup”. It sits just west of Tastrup village. To the north, you’ll find Flensburg’s Sandberg district. The Suedstadt district is directly west. And just 300 meters south lies the smaller settlement of Tastrupfeld. Klein Tastrup is part of the Huerup municipality.

Let’s step back in time. Imagine robber knights. Legend says one lived on Kopperbarg hill near Klein Tastrup. He haunted the area from his small castle. Today, no visible remains confirm this story. Yet, the legend adds a touch of intrigue to the landscape of Klein Tastrup.

Fast forward to 1848. The Martinsstift was established about 700 meters southwest of Klein Tastrup. This institution still exists today showing a long history of social care in the region.

Take a look at old maps. A detailed Danish map from 1857/58 clearly marks “Lille Tostrup”. The Prussian survey map around 1879 also shows Klein Tastrup. Back then, it consisted of only a few buildings. These likely belonged to a farm.

The real growth of Klein Tastrup happened after World War II. Many single-family homes sprung up along “Am Koppelberg” and “An der Nybro” streets. This marked a new chapter for Klein Tastrup. It transformed from a small rural settlement. It became a residential area close to Flensburg.

Klein Tastrup has always been closely tied to its neighbors. Until 2023, it was part of the Tastrup municipality. Now, it belongs to Huerup. This reflects changing administrative boundaries in Schleswig-Holstein.

The history of Klein Tastrup is more than dates and maps. It’s about people. It is about their lives and how they shaped this place. The village persists close to Flensburg offering a blend of rural charm and urban accessibility. As you explore Klein Tastrup, remember its past. Think of robber knights. Think of post-war families building their homes. Consider the generations who have called this place home. They all contribute to the story of Klein Tastrup. A story still being written today.
