Opened in 2001, Cimitirul Adormirea Maicii Domnului in Bucharest isn’t steeped in centuries of history like some cemeteries. But it holds its own unique charm. The Bucharest Municipality granted the construction permit for this tranquil space. Located in Sector 4, on Sos. Berceni, just 200 meters before Bucharest’s ring road, it sits near the Berceni II state cemetery. Public transport, including bus 125 and maxi-taxis 418, 419, and the Bucharest-Costinari route, stops right in front of Cimitirul Adormirea Maicii Domnului. This makes it easily accessible for visitors. The cemetery spans 7,200 square meters. It offers 1,600 burial plots divided into two sections by a public pedestrian alley. The smaller section is slated for future development. The larger section currently holds 1,000 plots. It’s organized into five figures, each with nine rows, and features a mortuary chapel. A concrete pedestrian road leads into the cemetery. Small concrete paths provide access to individual burial plots, spaced every two plots. This thoughtful layout prevents visitors from having to step on other graves. Cimitirul Adormirea Maicii Domnului provides a paved parking area for 8-10 cars, an administrative office for public relations, a mortuary chapel, and a 15 square meter pavilion. The pavilion, furnished with tables and benches, is ideal for memorial services or wakes. The cemetery also has restrooms, running water, and 24/7 security. Here, you can lease a burial plot, construct a funerary monument like a cross with a border or a crypt, and rent the mortuary chapel for one to three days. Within Cimitirul Adormirea Maicii Domnului’s peaceful grounds, visitors can find solace and remembrance. It offers a quiet space for reflection, honoring the departed while providing convenient access for the living.
